Kara & Larry Horat Profile Kara and Larry have lived in San Diego for almost 11 years. Kara is from New Jersey originally and ended up in the Bay Area almost 13 years ago while looking for a field sales position in the high tech industry. Kara worked as a sales representative in industrial plastics for almost 10 years prior to making the transition into real estate. Kara has now been selling residential real estate in San Diego for nearly a decade and achieved a long time personal goal of earning her California Broker’s license in 2007. Larry is originally from St. Louis, but lived in the Phoenix area for 8 years prior to moving to California. Larry accepted a transfer to the Bay Area, also in the high tech sector. Larry worked as a sales manager, operations and branch manager for 15 years prior to meeting Kara in San Jose. They tied the knot on New Years’ Eve of 1998 in La Jolla. Larry joined Kara in real estate in 2000. After selling real estate for 8 years, Larry made the transition into real estate management in 2006. The couple recently opened their own firm, Inspiratus Real Estate Group in early 2009. They have been married 10 years and have a 6-year-old little girl named Holli. They enjoy spending time together as a family and enjoy all of San Diego’s fun spots. They frequent the San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Balboa Park, and love Moonlight Beach in Encinitas – Kara’s says it reminds her of New Jersey! You can often find them at Del Mar Pizza (NY Style of course), after a day of fun at the beach or Powerhouse Park. They are also very involved in their church and community. They have helped sponsor events like a women’s business suit drive for the “Dress For Success” organization, helping less fortunate women get into the workplace by providing business attire for job interviews. They also donated their listing services to San Diego Youth & Community Services, a local non-profit that had a need to liquidate one of their properties. You’ll often find them participating in a variety of other community programs like helping collect blankets in winter for the homeless downtown and helping their daughter fill baby bottles with quarters for a fundraiser at a teen pregnancy center. Giving back is very important to the Horats. Their real estate business has become a big part of their life. “Helping people buy or sell a home is so personal and such a big decision. We really build relationships in our business. Our hope is to keep our clients for a lifetime, not just a sale”, says Kara. Larry comments, “We are easy to work with, honest and professional. We are not pushy “salespeople” and I think our clients really appreciate that. Most of our business now comes from our past clients and friends and that’s the best compliment we can receive. We really love what we do, I think that’s the main reason for our success.”
